Qualcomm Snapdragon brings instant streaming of Netflix to Android devices

Qualcomm logo Watching movies and television shows is set to become an effortless and enjoyable experience for Android powered device users. Qualcomm has officially announced that future Android devices which are powered by its latest Snapdragon platform will have access to instant streaming of various TV shows and movies from Netflix.

“We’re excited about this collaborative effort to help bring the Netflix application to Android devices running on the Snapdragon platform. Qualcomm is in a unique position to help bring the most optimized and advanced Android apps to market through working closely with the strong ecosystem of Snapdragon developers like Netflix,” commented Liat Ben-Zur, senior director of software strategy and ecosystems for Qualcomm.

Qualcomm meets all the security requirements needed to bring the Netflix application to Snapdragon based Android gadgets. The Snapdragon processors offer high performance and media protection attributes, making it easier for devices powered by it to pass through the Netflix certification approval process. Furthermore, different videos streamed via Netflix are decoded by dedicated hardware, enhancing image quality and extending battery life.

Qualcomm is unveiling the Netflix application at the ongoing MWC in Barcelona.
