Wyse unveils the revamped PocketCloud 2.0 application for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices. Updated with a host of new features, the business application boasts of packing in the first and only virtual desktop video streaming solution along with a new premium service offering.

The VMware Ready Certified for VMware View desktop application for Apple devices enables end users to access files and applications on any infrastructure through many supported protocols. It offers secure mobile display as well as control of physical or virtual instances. Microsoft Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Remote Desktop Services, and Terminal Services features in Windows Server products are included.

“With Wyse PocketCloud celebrating its one-year anniversary at VMworld 2010, we are excited to unleash a collection of new features for our current and future users,” mentioned Daniel Barreto, GM, Mobile Cloud Business Unit at Wyse. “In the past year we’ve seen PocketCloud grow from an emergency IT resource to an essential app for anyone on the go looking to remotely access their media, documents and applications.”

“Remote desktop access has long been an essential component of IT strategy,” added Vittorio Viarengo, vice president, End User Computing Products, VMware. “With the introduction of PocketCloud for Android phones, in addition to the apps already available for the iPhone and iPad, Wyse has teamed with VMware View to make remote access an anytime/anywhere proposition.”

Wyse PocketCloud for iOS devices now features the auto discovery option that keeps setup to a minimum. Users can also hook their Mac and Home editions of Windows courtesy the VNC support. With the external monitor support on the iPhone 4 and iPad, the desktop can be shared. This feature does however require users to be equipped Apple’s VGA adapter. The application also benefits from enhancements specifically for iOS 4 along with iPhone 4 retina display support.

The novel Wyse PocketCloud Premium feature is now also included in the upgraded Wyse PocketCloud. It allows rich and more intuitive interaction with wide content including multimedia, files and applications on the Windows desktops. Enabling users to stream media video files seamlessly, users gain quick access to applications with the simple file browser. Finding files is also made simpler with the desktop and folder search attributes. The application’s Thin browser enhancements permit the use of the remote desktop’s Internet Explorer bookmarks and history

Acknowledging VMworld 2010, Wyse PocketCloud continues to be offered at a promotional pricing of $14.99. Wyse PocketCloud Premium can be availed of in 3 month and 12 month increments at $2.99 and $9.99 respectively. These versions will hit the iTunes App Store.
