Plica phone concept flaunts dual touchscreen

Plica phoneJames Piatt’s latest design is a dual touchscreen Plica phone that can be folded like a wallet. Easy on the eyes, the conceptual Plica handset appears to be a unique blend of the revolutionary iPhone’s touchscreen interface and the Nintendo gaming console’s dual screen display. Straight from the creative mind of James Piatt, the folding clamshell boast of a dual touchscreen setup without any buttons or hard keys.

The interesting concept of the handset will captivate the fantasy of all touchscreen lovers. Exhibiting superior navigation/internet and messaging functions, the Plica clamshell is two hinged touchscreens folded out into a large display. The phone apparently changes from a mobile phone to a mini handheld computer as both touch screens work together. Satiating users who are unhappy with the screen-split, the phone will allow a single image or web page to be viewed across both screens.

The distinct feature of the phone with one of the touchscreens mutated to a touch-QWERTY keyboard while the other display doubles as a monitor makes the phone a touchscreen handtop. The phone will additionally feature a headphone jack, a miniUSB and a camera on the side. The unfamiliar screen real estate can also be used by laying the device flat on both sides.

Yet in its conceptual phase, no further details of the Plica clamshell are out. Smartphone users will have to await the production and release of these form factors.
