Pantech splashes blue and green in ‘Pursuit’ of GenX with AT&T

Pantech Pursuit

Pantech has doffed the covers of its latest trendy QWERTY keypad, the Pursuit, released through the US network carrier AT&T. Pantech plans to target the GenX by unveiling the phone in vibrant green and blue.

The device has been conceptualized with the thought of ‘convenient, refreshing and fun messaging phone for the new generation’ which can be used as a complete touchscreen phone when the device is closed. The handset is designed to be a messaging phone with a genX feel to it. Hence, it’s very easy to type and send messages since the spacious QWERTY keyboard facilitates effortless input of text.

Managing Director Seong-Jae Lim, the head of Pantech’s Overseas Marketing Division states that, “Pursuit is a touch phone with unique “colors” for the new generation, and it offers an easy, convenient and fun user experience by improving the convenience of use. Starting with the Pursuit, we will win over the overseas touch phone market by capitalizing on the Pantech-specific unique sense and superb technological ability.”

Pursuit’s designers have concentrated highly on the device’s look as it looks forward to create a fad. The blue color is quite preferred by the younger generation, whereas the green has become quite a fad itself with the contemporary eco trends. The colors were chosen after conducting a flawless pre-test in the US. The phone is quite handy and easy to grip. Further enhancing the grip are the engraved recurring net patterns on the borderline of the front and round shaped patterns repeated on the rear.

Pantech has designed a separate UI for an apt touchscreen messaging experience. On taking out the keypad to type a message, the menus related to messaging like SMS and e-mail automatically emerge. Also the screen translates from horizontal to vertical whenever the keypad is open or shut, makes the use of the messaging function in any position effortless.

The standby screen has been extended to encase three sections. With every section composed of a separate theme which augments the convenience of using the touch phone. On dragging the center standby screen to the either of the sides, the standby screen would shift to right or left respectively.

The center standby screen consists of general functions like music controller, calendar and clock. The one on the left provides the user with menus such as calculator and memo functions that are used many a time. While the right one enables users to pull out contents that they want like photos, book and music. This helps the user to confirm and resume applicable content without any difficulty.

The device comes further enhanced with unique fun features like the Drawing Commander, the Face Tagging, the threaded SMS function and video share. The ‘Drawing Commander’ is an innovative function that allows to pre-save gestures made with a finger on the screen for specified functions. Thus, the Drawing Commander makes it easier for users who can now simply call by two taps on the screen or start the music player by a prerecorded gesture. This makes it easy for users, since all they need to do is mark the functions they use most often and then record the gesture and blend in the two.

Face Tagging is founded on face recognition technology. It is a means of letting users store the name and telephone number of the people they have photographed with the phone’s camera. Face Tagging enables users to call and connect instantly when they are looking at the pictures of that person by simply touching his or her pre-recorded face. The threaded SMS facility serves as a messenger program. Also included are the Video Share feature and support for microSd card.

The release date and pricing details of Pantech’s Pursuit are not declared.
