A recent announcement by Panasonic, one of the leading handset manufacturers in Japan has revealed the Panasonic P706ie, an elegant 3G handset. Available in three color versions namely silver, black and lavender, the novel Panasonic phone should appeal consumers who are in search of mid-end featured phones.

The clamshell is feature rich and sports some great functions like mobile TV capabilities, HSDPA connectivity for data transfer speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps, Web browser, pre-installed maps, bar-code reader, multi-tasking capabilities, voice dialing, calculator, alarm clock, USB and much more.

The device also comprehends a 3 inch TFT internal display with a small external 0.8 inch display, a 2 Megapixel auto focus camera with VGA video recording and a front-facing camera along with advanced email capabilities that lets users send and receive emails with attachments of up to 2MB. The handset has a large internal keypad with dedicated keys for TV or email. With the internal memory unknown, the smartphone boasts off a support for both microSD and microSDHC cards of up to 8GB.

The battery is expected to offer up to 190 minutes of talk-time, up to 20 hours of music playback and up to 330 minutes of TV viewing (if used in ECO mode) in addition to 570 hours of stand-by time.

With no word on the price yet, the Japanese beauty should be commercially available from August 15 via NTT DoCoMo under the name of FOMA P707ie.
