Palm debuts its new device called Pre at CES 2009 running on its new operating system called WebOS. It is the first phone based on this platform. WebOS is a web-centric and multi-touch platform. Palm Pre is an elegant device introduced by Palm with the capability to perform rich features and functions.

The new WebOS makes the use of phone very interesting as it inherits web technologies like Javascript, CSS and XHTML. Palm has developed this platform with enhanced features and technologies to provide quality experience to its users. With the WebOS platform you will feel as if you are working on a PC. The main feature of the operating system is that it brings all the information of multiple calendars, contacts together.

The Palm Pre, the first phone to operate on WebOS features a 3.1 inch multitouch display screen. Pre slider phone has a curved shape hiding its full QWERTY keyboard in it. It integrates a 3 megapixel camera with LED flash for clicking images and video recordings. The Pre phone provides support for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and also equips Gesture area which enables simple intuitive gestures for navigation.

The Pre phone is enriched with Sprint services like Sprint Navigation that offers audio and visual turn-by-turn directions and you can watch live and favorite shows through Sprint TV function. It also has an accelerometer that automatically rotates web pages. It supports Outlook EAS so that users can access Microsoft Exchange servers and personal email support. The impressive 8GB memory will allow you to store ample of data.

The Palm Pre will be rolled out first in US from Sprint in the first half of 2009. The pricing details are not yet out.
