LG publicized that over five million LG-KP500 or Cookie handsets have been sold across the globe since its launch nine months back. With the achievement, this LG handset apparently becomes the fastest selling device among LG’s series of full touchscreen phones.
Since its introduction in November, 2008, the touchscreen handset has broken its own sales records at a remarkable rate. The phone was unveiled in over 60 countries and was an instant hit and accomplished one million in sales in the initial fourteen weeks after launch.
“Achieving five million units in sales in only nine months is proof that we’re on track with our goal to make Cookie a phone that’s loved by everyone. Our strategy to provide a full touch screen phone at an affordable price has succeeded beyond our original expectations. If the current trend continues, we expect to see Cookie hit sales of 10 million by the end of this year,” stated Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
This statistics reveal that 19,000 LG Cookies have been sold per day which indicates 791 units every hour or nine phones per minute. The slim and sleek device is packaged with finest features such as 3.0 megapixel camera, 3D accelerometer and Active Flash User Interface with flamboyant widget icons to facilitate access to frequently used functions easily.
LG varied the range of Cookie colors, in order to live up to the expectations of consumers who are looking forward to accessorizing their mobile phones. Apart from four colors namely Black, Vandyke Brown, Anodized Silver and Elegant Gold which were brought to fore during the launch, LG has also introduced 10 new colors to offer more options.
Owing to the popularity of Cookie, LG envisages persistent sales in the future too. The company apparently plans to continue with similar sales patterns for the future full touchscreen phones, such as Arena, right through the year.
