The Oppo U3 smartphone is the latest addition from the Chinese OEM and it’s a mammoth of a release which measures almost 6 inches tall. The phone has been in the rumor mill for long and we’ve finally gotten a good look at what it has to offer in hardware and software.
The smartphone is, as you’d expect, official in China and is yet to get revealed for other markets, but that’s bound to happen in the coming months. The phone doesn’t offer optical zoom as previously speculated, but it does have some pretty good camera features – More on that below. At 5.9 inches wide, the display used here proffers 1080p visuals.
Overall, the Oppo phone is 8mm thick and weighs 195 grams which are pretty decent for its size. There’s a 64-bit 1.7GHz octa core processor from MediaTek delivering the steam and memory provisions comprise of 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. Also, it’s a bit disappointing that a 3000mAh battery will power up all components.

If that’s not enough, Andorid 4.4.4 KitKat comes preloaded with Color OS 2.0.1. You also get dual SIM card slots and 4G LTE. The front camera is rated at 5MP, while the main imager is a 13MP Sony IMX214 which can take high-resolution 50MP images and also record slow-motion videos. There’s also an AK4961 audio chip for Hi-Fi sound and VOOC fast charging.
