Oppo R1 unveiled for Rs 26,990 in India, N1 gets a price cut

We’ll forgive you if see the Oppo R1 which has been unveiled in India for Rs 26,990 and think of the Gionee Elife S5.5. And we’ll also pardon you if the older Oppo N1 stills tempts you to buy it, especially after today’s Rs 2009 price cut which puts it at Rs 37990. The newer release sits on the lower rung of the mid-range segment, if you know what we mean.

The Oppo R1 smartphone can be snapped up for Rs 26990 because its features are less impressive when compared to the N1. It adopts a similar design element to the ‘world’s thinnest phone,’ the Gionee Elife S5.5’s, with a pristine white body and gold framing the edges. Oppo appears to have put a lot of focus on the camera fitted into the R1.

The lens has an aperture of f/2.0 and a coating which stops stray light from interfering with the image being clicked so that they’re clear and bright. The incorporated blue glass filter is said to be capable of effectively filtering over 90% infrared and other lights. The combined technologies should supposedly cut down on glare, red eye and more in order to deliver true-to-life pictures.

– 5-inch IPS 1280 x 720p HD display
– 1.3GHz quad core MediaTek MT6582 chipset
– 5MP and 8MP cameras
