Oppo Joy 3 budget smartphone hits entry-level market for Rs 7990

The Oppo Joy 3 is the latest Chinese smartphone to hit Indian markets, with the asking price of Rs 7990 placing it in the crowded entry-level category. The company is expanding beyond its initial higher-end models, seeking to diversify its offerings across all segments.

The launch of the Oppo Joy 3 comes a few months after the April release of the Joy Plus, which cost Rs 6990. For Rs 1000 more, you get a slightly larger screen of 4.5 inches as opposed to 4 inches, a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor from the lower 1.3GHz dual-core CPU, a 5MP/2MP camera set versus a 3MP/0.3MP combination, and a 2000mAh battery from a 1700mAh one.

The Oppo Joy 3 will face strong competition from other Chinese players in India. The phone compares badly against prevailing heavyweights in the low-end market, such as the Redmi 2.
