Opera Software has launched a native version of the Opera Mini 5 beta browser for Windows Mobile 5 and 6-based phones. It includes features identical to its Java version though it does not need the mentioned platform.

Tabbed browsing, the password manager, Speed Dial and bookmarks are some of the key features of the tool. These claim to work together to offer users a speedy and convenient mobile browsing experience.

“Windows Mobile deserves a mobile browser that looks better, handles better and delivers better than the default browser. Even though Opera has 50 million satisfied Opera Mini users, we always seek ways to improve our browser for each and every mobile phone user out there. Now, we are pleased to offer the world’s most popular mobile Web browser as a native Windows Mobile application,” remarked Dag Olav Norem, VP of Products, Opera Software.

With an ability to compress data traffic by nearly 90%, the browser allows enhanced page-loading and speed. This should effectively reduce browsing costs for users on a pay-per-MB data plan or even when on roaming due to the lightened data load.

Windows Mobile 5 and 6 users can now download Opera Mini 5 beta from the official Opera website for free. Users don’t need Java on the mobile phone to download this browser.
