OnePlus 2 details revealed through Reddit AMAA

The OnePlus 2 is still shrouded in mystery ahead of its July 27 launch date, but we now know the device will feature a 3300mAh battery and have a smaller profile compared to its predecessor. The company has been unveiling details slowly over the past few weeks, building up considerable hype around the phone.

The battery of the OnePlus 2 has nearly 10% more capacity than the earlier model, which was a 3100mAh one. That won’t necessarily translate to longer battery life though, since we know the device has an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, a step up from the quad-core Snapdragon 801 SoC sported by the One.

OnePlus 2 Hiding

A potential change might be happening with regards to the dimensions of the handset. An image posted on a Reddit AMAA held by the company featured the One on top of a OnePlus 2. This could either mean the display size is going to be smaller than 5.5 inches, or the phone will retain that and reduce the width of the frame.

The OnePlus smartphone is going to be released in different versions for China, the US, Europe and Asia. It will have wider network support than before, with 4G LTE band coverage of 1/2/4/5/7/8/12/17 in the US and 1/3/5/7/8/20 in Europe. The company further said the device has gone through extensive testing to prevent the touchscreen issues that beset the One.

We still don’t know the price at which the OnePlus 2 will be sold, but the company’s CEO had earlier assured users that the phone would be available for under $450. What we do know hints about the device having a metal build, 4GB of RAM, a fingerprint scanner, advanced camera capabilities and a USB Type-C port.

The OnePlus 2 could turn out to be quite a formidable contestant in the Indian mid-range market. There’s no specific release date for the country yet, but we’ll keep you posted on any developments.
