O2 has spelled out the Huawei Ascend W1 price in the UK, while the Taiwanese company’s first Windows Phone-based smartphone prepares itself to penetrate stores across the region, showing off a retail tag reading £119.99. This announcement could draw away people’s attention from the company’s recently unveiled P2 belonging to the same series, but rocking Android out of the box.
On account of the WP8 OS, the device exhibits the Metro user interface, flaunting resizable Live Tiles on a 4-inch IPS LCD display. With dimensions of 124.5mm x 65.7mm x 10.5mm, the handset has a weight of 130 grams. Positioned on the flip side will be a 5MP camera, whereas a VGA webcam will rest above the screen.
Moving on to the force that boosts the device internally, a dual core processor with a clock speed of up to 1.2GHz has been fitted within the body. In order to deliver a rich gaming experience, Adreno 305 graphics accompany the CPU.
In addition to system memory of 512MB, the OEM has kept aside 4GB of internal storage capacity which will cater to users’ hoarding desires. Over and above this, a microSD card slot facilitating an expansion of up to 32GB should come to people’s aid, lest they find the inbuilt space inadequate.
A 1,950mAh battery will be rendering power for the aforementioned activities. As per the company’s claims, 2G owners should be able to derive up to 480 minutes of talk time or 460 hours of standby. With respect to those on 3G, talk time will sum up to 630 minutes, whereas the phone may survive for around 470 hours on standby.
The Huawei Ascend W1 variant which dons an electric blue garb will be seen in stores by March 7, although the model splashed with electric pink should hit outlets starting March 18. There will moreover be an option to purchase it through the carrier for £13.50 per month, with no upfront cost. Clove has already announced its plan to put the device up for pre-order and by the looks of it, the e-retailer will be providing more alternatives in colors as well.
