Released a couple of years ago originally with Froyo, Notion Ink Adam tablet can now start to get a taste of the Ice Cream Sandwich with an Alpha ROM for the same. This latest release also brings in some other fixes which were reported in earlier versions.

Although the ICS seems like a welcome change, a post on the official Notion Ink blog suggests that there will be some changes in the overall use of the slate, especially with regard to the camera. While the snapper will be graced with new features, the only stable platform for it is OMAP. New attributes include zero shutter lag, face detection and unlock, multiple auto focus and metering area support, among others.

With the introduction of this ROM, some other significant tweaks and changes have also been made. The company conveys that issues like audio, Bluetooth, capacitive as well as back buttons, SD card mount, GPS, 0.39 kernel, hardware acceleration, and others have been tweaked for the better. Although the sleep bug issue has been partially fixed, users will require to alter the Wi-Fi policy. After resetting the device, the ‘keep Wi-Fi on during sleep’ should be changed to ‘never’.
