With touchscreens mostly ruling the market these days, many mobile enthusiasts may be missing conventional 12-button keypads which seemed easy and fast to type with. Well, for such consumers, Nokia has blended in the best of both worlds namely touchscreens and physical keys. Nokia Conversations doffs the silk of its latest offering the X3 Touch and Type.

This handset is loaded with a 2.4” screen and a keyboard of 12-buttons. It is touted to be the first handset from Nokia to feature such an amalgamation. With a brushed aluminum finish, this phone comes in 5 vibrant colors. Loaded with all the common features and the above combination it still manages to tip the scale at 78g and measure just 9.6 x 106 x 48 mm.

Mary McDowell, who’s in charge of Nokia’s mobile phones, stated the company recognizes that many people still want buttons for rapid texting: “Our research tells us consumers who have invested years in becoming fast one-handed, one-thumb texters want to maintain their speedy edge for SMS, chat and instant messaging – yet enjoy the benefits of touch as well.”

The feature rich Nokia X3 Touch and Type offers 3G, HSPA, four bands for voice and Wi-Fi. It equips an FM radio and a music player to endow users with great music on-the-go. Additionally, it features dedicated music and messaging keys for access to songs and emails. Sporting a 5MP camera featuring 4X digital zoom, the handset enables users to take amazing pictures and videos. Fitted with a MicroSD memory card slot, the device’s memory can be expanded up to 16GB. The battery life is said to offer 5 hours of talk time and 17 days on standby.

Nokia owners can access numerous apps from the Ovi Store. The Communities app updates socializing enthusiasts with latest feeds from Twitter and Facebook. Webmail and chat services are also proffered by in-built apps. This enticing phone will be sold with Ovi Music Unlimited, which provides access to a library of more than 11 million tracks.

The Nokia X3 Touch and Type is scheduled to hit the streets of Australia, New Zealand, China, France, Ireland, UK, Germany, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Portugal, Mexico and Saudi, Yemen by this quarter. Priced at roughly €125 without taxes and subsidies, it will be later shipped to other countries.
