Nokia X or Normandy Android phone gets certified in Malaysia, Indonesia

The Nokia X that goes by the codename of Normandy is indeed in the offing as it has just received certification in some countries. We came across reports on the web, which reveal that the Finnish manufacturer has received certifications for the phone in Malaysia as well as Indonesia.

A Malaysian website called Lowyat.net happened to come across a certain Nokia device with a model number RM-180 on SIRIM’s database. Exactly when the device will make its official grand appearance, has not been revealed as yet, but we are expecting the device to debut at the MWC 2014 to be held in Spain this month.

We already have a brief idea about the first Android-based Nokia gadget, thanks to all the rumors and speculations that have surfaced on the web. And a couple of things such as dual SIM and LTE compatibility have been confirmed by the aforementioned listing. This is likely to be an Asha-like affordable phone which falls in the entry-level category.

If these reports are anything to go by, then prospective buyers can look forward to the device drenched in various shades and featuring a 4-inch touchscreen. The Android device may bring a single 5MP rear-facing snapper and a 1500mAh battery. It could have 4GB of onboard memory along with 512MB of RAM and may be fueled by a 1GHz processor.

Let’s wait till the MWC 2014 to find out whether the Nokia X or Normandy really exists or not.
