Nokia plans to launch rugged 3720?

Nokia 3720 handset Previously, Nokia had introduced sturdy phones like the 5140i. Ubergizmo recently reported that Nokia would now launch a rugged mobile device named as the 3720. The phone is apparently splash as well as dust-resistant and even possesses IP54 certification.

The IP-54 rating of Nokia’s 3720 implies that, the handset would offer some resistance to dust even if the phone is not dust proof. Moreover the handset is also guarded against splashed water. However it cannot survive absolute submersion.

This candybar model apparently incorporates Nokia’s traditional form factor and is believed to be a low-end phone. There are no clues suggesting which OS it is operating on, the S40 OS or the S60 Symbian operating system.

The Nokia handset would be probably reach Europe around September, 2009 via T-Mobile. However the price of this device is not yet known.
