Nokia has recently informed one of their major North American distributors that the expected arrival date of the Nokia N97 is June 2nd 2009.
US mobile phone users already have the facility of pre-ordering the S60-based touchscreen device from the Nokia USA website. The same facility is available to users in some other countries. The company revealed that the handset is expected to be available for purchase in Europe only in July.
It is unclear whether the Nokia N97 NAM will start selling the same day as its shipping date, but there are bright chances of that actually happening. According to the Nokia Blog, the new smartphone has chances of following the same trend as the Nokia XpressMusic, when launched in the market.
The price of the Nokia N97, says the blog, could be around $600 rather than the $699 listed on the site by Nokia. It is hoped that the handset does not entirely follow the Nokia 5800 NAM availability pattern as those who pre-ordered the phone did not receive their ordered units for a month after retailers like Amazon and Dell received them.
