Nokia N96,North AmericaIts showtime guys! Launched earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Nokia today announced the release of its highly awaited N96 phone in North America. The phone is all geared up to bring movies and much more to North American markets via high-speed 3G HSDPA networks widely used in the region.

The Nokia N96 is a slender and powerful device delivering an entertainment experience to match for. The phone blends a large 2.8 inch screen and 16 gigabytes of internal memory with a wide range of compatible video formats.

Bill Plummer, Vice President of Go-to-Market for Nokia Americas, mentioned, “Since the first Nokia Nseries device came to market in 2005, this range of devices has consistently represented cutting-edge technology combined with an unparalleled user experience. The Nokia N96 builds upon this tradition to bring mobility to today’s most valuable Internet services.”

He further added, “With support for movies, music, games, navigation and more right out of the box, the real power of the Nokia N96 is that it provides an open application environment for users to define their own mobile lifestyle.”

Nokia N96 owners can easily explore, download or purchase favorite movies, television shows and other video content with the support for popular video download services. Users can enjoy up to 40 hours of video content with an internal 16 gigabytes of memory and an expandable memory card slot. The Nokia N96 also supports handsfree with a built in “kick stand”, that gives an optimal viewing angle to ensure enjoyment of your favorite video content.

Additional features of the phone include a five megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, integrated Wi-Fi support and assisted-GPS navigation. On board is also the integrated Ovi services that allow a one-click uploading of images, videos and other content making the Nokia N96 a powerful device. Enjoy easy navigation across town and country with Nokia Maps 2.0 or a spur of the moment N-Gage games tournament with friends around the world using the preinstalled N-Gage application. The N-Gage application includes a purchase voucher for the full version of the exciting N-Gage racing title Asphalt 3: Street Rules along with trial versions of four other popular N-Gage titles.

With America’s 3G support, the Nokia N96 should be available in Q4 of 2008 at an approximate price of $895.
