With the popularity of the Ovi store only scaling up, Nokia sure seems to working at making the most of the opportunity. The company recently launched the Create4Millions competition, inviting customers with ideas for their Series 40 Java or web apps. Winners will get a chance to visit Nokia World in London and a Nokia dual SIM device.

The competition will be divided into two categories which include consumer-generated app ideas and apps created by developers. The IdeasProject asks people to submit ideas in three slots namely Health & Education, Social Networking & Location, and Games & Infotainment. Participants can share their concepts for an app and also see them transform into reality.

The other category demands developers to actually make an app for the Series 40 phones and submit it to Nokia for selection. There are four categories for developing an app, which include In the Know, Fun & Games, Emotional Closeness and Access to Knowledge. Creators can win a share of the cash prize and other prizes which value up to a total of €1,000,000. Prizes will be awarded to apps that utilize Nokia Maps, location APIs and touch features. Best overall app will also bag an award.

Nokia’s Create4Millions competition is on from June 28, 2011 and will end on the evening of September 20, 2011. The 3 best apps will be invited to Nokia World, London in October 2011.
