Nokia Bandit phablet may go by Lumia 1520 upon launch

The Nokia Bandit smartphone may be aptly codenamed, seeing as all that the stealthy device has managed to spill out in the past month are a handful of specifications and no glimpses at all. This time however, we have here what happens to be the handset’s official moniker. Nokia has apparently decided to call the largest smartphone from its foundries, the Lumia 1520.

This isn’t much to go by as of now, although we could consider it a start. The smartphone will most likely qualify as a flagship device and we may be getting ahead of ourselves, but the company might eventually plan a mid-range variant (supposedly Lumia 1525), just like it did with the 925 and 625.

Before we start building any more castles in the air, let’s just say that there is no word whatsoever from the Finnish manufacturer itself, even hinting at the existence of the Nokia Bandit. However, we must also take into consideration that the news has surfaced from the Twitter account, @evleaks, which has rarely disappointed us in the past.

The Bandit phablet or Lumia 1520 may be destined for the Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update, owing to which the inclusion of a 6-inch FHD panel and a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset might not be that unrealistic an expectation to have. Also, the Sony Honami ought to beware because the device in question too is said come rocking a 20MP camera.

Here’s what we know about the smartphone so far:

– 6-inch touch display with 1920 x 1080p resolution
– Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update
– Quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor
– 20MP camera
