After updating its operating system with the latest Symbian Belle, Nokia is offering a set of devices based on this OS, the first of the line-up being the Nokia 700 smartphone. Apart from other things, Nokia claims this to be the smallest smartphone till date.

According to the company, the design of Nokia 700 measures 110mm x 50.7mm x 9.7mm and weighs 96g which makes it a convenient fit in users’ pockets. The device displays on a 3.2-inch ClearBlack AMOLED touchscreen with Corning Gorilla glass, which users can customize with up to six homescreen options.

Marking the unveiling of Symbian Belle operating system from Nokia, the smartphone runs on a 1GHz processor. The so-claimed smallest device holds up to 2GB user memory with external memory capacity expandable up to 32GB. The 1080mAh battery runs for up to 7.3 hours of talk time and for a standby time of about 465 hours.

The rear side of the handset shows off a full focus 5MP camera with LED flash. It shoots HD videos in 720p resolution. The device is also pre-loaded with a flash player and video editing software. On the connectivity front, it is Bluetooth 3.0, WLAN, A-GPS and NFC enabled.

The company has described the 700 handset as its most eco-friendly phone till date. Employing materials like bio-plastics, recycled plastics and recycled metals in its making, the device can be completely reprocessed. The package, along with the handset, battery and charger, comes with a connectivity cable and the WH-207 stereo headset.

The Nokia 700 smartphone will be available in markets in the third quarter of 2011 for a price of approximately 270 Euros exclusive local taxes or operator subsidies. Potential users can select their favorite from cool grey, silver-white, coral red, peacock blue and purple shades.
