No Nokia Belle update for T-Mobile Astound

Nokia Astound Tweet

Just a couple of days after the Nokia Belle update was announced, comes a piece of news which T-Mobile Astound users may not be happy with. The official Nokia US Twitter page has announced that the latest mobile platform from the company would not be available for the handset.

The Verge caught sight of the news at Unleash The Phones and reported that the Finnish OEM’s Twitter account stated this bit of information in response to a question asked by a customer about the availability status of the upgrade for the Astound. The T-Mobile handset was released about ten months ago, packed with Symbian^3 and had duly acquired the Symbian Anna update in November last year.

Furthermore, the fact that surprised many after this news broke out was that the mobile phone which the T-Mobile Astound is based on, the Nokia C7, is capable of supporting and is already running on the Nokia Belle platform. It is most likely that the reason for such a move is not Nokia, but the network carrier itself.

The T-Mobile Astound boasts of a 3.5-inch 640 x 360p multi-touch display and comes incorporated with an expansion slot to increase the memory up to 32GB using a microSD card. Operating on a 1,200mAh Li-ion battery, it lets users capture videos in HD 1280 x 720p resolution through the embedded 8MP main camera.

The cancellation of the Nokia Belle update for the T-Mobile Astound may evoke reactions of surprise and agitation among users.
