Being able to seamlessly edit or create documents while on the move is probably one of the most important things on mobile users’ wish list. In a recent post on the official Google Mobile blog, the company has now extended its new Google Docs application for Android users.

The innovative app makes it simple to search and filter all the content across all Google accounts. Users can directly jump into editing different documents while employing any of the online mobile editors. It enables seamless sharing of numerous items with contacts stored on the handset.

Designed to simplify the entire experience of editing documents, the highly useful Google Docs permits users to quickly upload documents from their phone and open any type of file directly via Gmail. In addition, users can configure a widget on the homescreen for instant access to three core functions namely jumping to starred documents, clicking a photo to upload or creating a new document with a single tap.

The Docs app features an optical character recognition feature that aids in converting the device’s stored images into editable documents with the inclusion of text. It works well with phones based on Android 2.1 and higher versions.

The new Google Docs app is now available in English and can be downloaded via the Android Market.
