Finally the US version of the Traffic Live feature for the Navigon iPhone app, MobileNavigator is made available via the US App Store. Traffic Live employs real-time traffic information to estimate routes that avoid congestion and enable users to reach their destination faster.
The feature offers coverage for the U.S., with Canada following shortly. Further, the new update also features an additional extended destination search. With this functionality, users can find a destination even if the exact address is unknown. Even the destination pinpoint in the map view can now be moved and located at any point on the map.
The Navigon app can now be launched in landscape mode. It presents immediate on-screen alerts by means of iconic warnings signifying accidents, construction and other incidents that can cause congestion along with the current route. Owing to real-time traffic warnings and exceptional mapping functionality, the app allows users to determine an efficient, alternative route or stay on the course.
Traffic Live employs crowd-sourced real-time speed data from over 1.3 million drivers including other Navigon app users, commercial fleets such as trucks and taxis, and regular drivers with a GPS system. The feature also utilizes an intelligent fusion of information from traffic cameras, road sensors and conventional traffic messages coming from ClearChannel’s Total Traffic Network.
Navigon Traffic Live is offered as an In App Purchase for $24.99. The app can be purchased for an introductory price of $19.99, till next four weeks.
