Motorola ICS Update

The wait for the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich mobile platform update for Motorola tablet and smartphone owners will soon come to an end. Well, that’s if the freshly revealed upgrade schedule released by the company is anything to go by. A number of mobile device companies had recently announced the Ice Cream Sandwich update and Motorola was one of them.

The new generation Android 4.0 software debuted in September last year and had created a buzz among OEMs manufacturing smartphones and tablets running on the mobile platform. As per Motorola’s statement, while owners of the Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi tablet in the U.S. have already received the ICS update, those residing in Canada, China, EMEA, Japan and Asia Pacific would be getting it in the second quarter of this year.

The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS is scheduled to roll out in the second quarter to various mobile devices including the Motorola Razr in Canada, China, EMEA, Japan and Asia Pacific, Motorola MT917 and XT928 in China and the Motorola Xoom Family Edition in the U.S. Owners of the Motorola Xyboard 10.1 and 8.2 residing in the U.S., will be receiving this update in the third quarter of this year.

Those possessing the Motorola Xoom 2 tablet from the Asia Pacific, EMEA and LATAM regions are also slated to get the new software sometime in the third quarter of this year. Additionally, ICS will be rolled out to U.S. residents owning the Motorola Photon 4G, Atrix 2 and Atrix 4G MB860 in the third quarter.
