Bharti Airtel has announced the launch of ‘Airtel digital TV Recorder’, which is a superior Set Top Box that has the ability to record live TV anytime, anywhere. This setup is claimed to be the first of its kind to have integrated mobile with TV.

Airtel users can now record their favorite TV shows from their mobile phones, not just in India, but from anywhere in the world. The Airtel digital TV recorder gives users the power of HMDI port for Video output, which implies highest picture quality. Along with this, users can even use the recorder to search for programs by name, time or most viewed channel.

This product would be a lifestyle enabler that will significantly change TV viewing trends in India. It is also strategic as it brings together the TV screen and the Mobile screen. The launch underlines our key strength of understanding consumer needs and using technology to deliver a simple elegant benefit through the most ubiquitous element of ones life today- the mobile.”

Apart from the HMDI port, the recorder offers other impressible features as well. Viewers are permitted to store up to 100 hours of recording of their favorite shows. There is an option of searching for any TV show, 7 days in advance by using the remote. Moreover, users can even search for TV shows 2 days in advance using their mobile phones. The recorder gives permission to pause live TV for almost 45 minutes, provides program information inclusive of the description, length and rating on the mobile.

Viewers can even choose between recording an entire serial or just one episode with the click of a button. The Airtel digital TV recorder can be purchased by new customers for Rs. 6990, while existing customers can upgrade themselves to the new recorder for Rs. 5990. Users can get the new Airtel digital TV recorder from their nearest retailer or call customer care for information.

Following the purchase, users will need to send an SMS saying ‘mguide’ to 54325 from the registered mobile number linked to Airtel digital TV account. The SMS allows users to download the mobile recording application onto their phones. With the provided customer id and password, users can access their accounts and record shows from their mobile JAVA and GPRS enabled handsets.
