Opera On Device ResearchEarlier Opera Software and On Device Research joined forces to carry out a device agnostic survey. This investigation was delivered to a sample panel upon smartphones and feature phones among other devices. A balanced share of mobile users from a variety of operators was taken into consideration as well as mobile Internet usage patterns.

As per the Opera Survey findings, many individuals have turned to mobile Internet as their only Internet access method. This segment is known as ‘Mobile Only Internet generation’. India is noted to be the second largest base of mobile internet users with South Africa reigning in at number one. The handset is the only medium to access the Internet for 41% Indians, according to the study. Besides being the cheaper choice, it is also portable in nature and easily accessible.

The survey also brought to light the fact that most mobile internet users are male ringing in at 95.2% while their female counterparts clock in at a mere 5%. This segment is also mostly used by the youth that range from 13 and 34 years. When pitted against non-Opera users, Opera owners are noted to be 18% more inclined to utilize social networking websites as well as e-mail and search. The latter also is noted to be 9% and 16% more likely to acquire gaming titles and music respectively.

The Opera Survey was conducted by Opera Software and On Device Research back in the month of February.
