Nokia XL Android phone receives an official launch, pegged at Rs 11,489

Microsoft has got some nards to be launching the Nokia XL for Rs 11,489 in India at a time when we’re being bombarded by alternatives with lower price tags. Just bad timing on its part, unless the company is hoping brand reputation will help it push out those units. But we’d bet our favorite socks that the phone won’t make online stores crash the way the Moto does to Flipkart.

This Nokia X series smartphone is the largest of the lot and sports a 5-inch touchscreen offering 800 x 480p resolution and IPS technology for wider viewing angles. The handset has a dual core Snapdragon S4 processor and just 768MB of RAM. There’s 4GB of internal memory as a microSD card slot for adding 32GB of extra space.

This Nokia (now Microsoft) smartphone offers a diluted version of Android which does not allow access to Google Play Store. You’ll be getting all your apps from the Nokia Store or third-party developers instead. For photography purposes, there’s a 5MP camera on the rear panel and for video calls, a 2MP one on the front.

Although the official price of the Nokia XL is Rs 11489, you may be able to buy it for less than that through online retailers. The Mobile Store for one, is vending it for Rs 11049.
