Microsoft drops the ‘Series’, keeps only Windows Phone 7 for mobile platform

Windows 7 Twitter

Microsoft’s refurbished Windows Phone 7 series mobile platform appears to be getting more than just the apparent rejuvenated mobile push. The company’s official Twitter account tweets that the ‘Series’ from the ‘Windows Phone 7 Series’ tag has now been dropped and the company is just retaining ‘Windows Phone 7’.

We’re sure a lot of mobile users would be more than happy with this announcement. The severe dislike for the long name appears to have been the same and most mobile users weren’t quite enthused by it. The incorporation of the word ‘Series’ anyways didn’t seem to have any real connection with the brand too. So the now simpler Windows Phone 7 should appease many.

The company we must say appears to be treading a rather long path as far as their novel smartphone platform is concerned. Who doesn’t remember Microsoft branding their Windows phones as ‘Windows Phones’ initially, followed by a longer ‘Windows Phone 7 Series’ brand?

We aren’t quite sure if there’s some plan of action behind this name change. Users we guess should expect the same software that’s been anticipated to roll out later this year.
