There’s much buzz surrounding the Micromax Canvas 4 smartphone which is being teased through a massive TVC campaign in India since many days. Micromax has been mum about its specifications as well as its retail value since the start, but a new leak has hit the block, throwing some light on the purported components that have been embraced by this much anticipated device, while also disclosing that interested parties keep aside Rs 16,000 to Rs 17,000 for purchasing it.
The leaked information was spotted by us on BGR India which in turn found it on AndroidOS.in. Contrary to what is being speculated since long, the Micromax Canvas 4 has apparently been fitted with a 720p HD display instead of a 1080p one. However, predictions regarding the size of its screen have turned out to be true, with the device supposedly having grabbed hold of a 5-inch estate which rests on its front surface.
All that talk about the phone having been equipped with an octa core processor has been quashed by this leak. A modest quad core MediaTek MT6589 SoC with its processor clocked at 1.2GHz has reportedly made its way onto the upcoming device, along with 1GB worth of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot.
We knew that a 13MP snapper is included in its offerings, but what we didn’t know was that a 5MP camera can be expected to grab a spot on its front side. This enhanced setup could make this device the best in the much populated series of smartphones that the Gurgaon-based company owns; in terms of imaging capabilities that is.
Support for the Android 4.2 OS is a no-brainer, while a 2,000mAh battery is also nothing to get excited about. Apparently, the phone measures 8.9mm thick, whereas it tips the scales at 145 grams. And while its frame is made from aluminum, its remaining body is said to have been carved out of plastic.
The Canvas 4 is slated to be unveiled on July 8. It can however be pre-booked right now through the company’s official site at a price of Rs 5,000 which will be completely refundable if patrons do not wish to buy the device once it’s revealed.
