Sales of the Micromax Canvas Spark have crossed a new milestone, selling over 500000 units through flash sales in the three months since its launch back in April. The phone will now be available for the first time via open sale on Snapdeal for two days, July 27 and 28.
The company is also gearing up for a media conference on July 27 to announce a new handset. There aren’t many details about it yet, with the invitation simply stating the brand will introduce a new level of multitasking in the new smartphone. The manufacturer further confirmed that it’s an affordable device.
BGR India has obtained an alleged photo of the new phone, where its bottom section can be seen. Based on the image, it looks like it’ll be encased in a metallic frame and have a microUSB port. The speaker grills are positioned on the base, a rare sight for an affordable handset. The site has further learned that the Micromax phone will be sold exclusively on Flipkart.

The 500000 sales achievement of the Micromax Canvas Spark are probably due to its decent specs at the accessible price of Rs 4999. Its popularity could be threatened by newer rivals in the entry-level segment such as the Era. The Xolo handset is cheaper at Rs 4444 and has similar features except its 5-inch screen, 2100mAh battery and Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
