Loop Telecom commences operations in Tamil Nadu and Orissa

Loop Telecom, a subsidiary of Loop Mobile (formerly known as BPL Mobile Communications), has announced the launch of its GSM services in Tamil Nadu and Orissa. Herewith, Loop Telecom becomes the first amongst the new GSM operators to start with operations. These services will be presented under the brand name Loop Mobile.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has awarded licences to new mobile services companies, including Loop telecom, to operate across 21 circles.

Sanjeev Chachondia, CEO, Loop Telecom, remarked, “We are currently testing our services and products in Tamil Nadu and Orissa. Subsequently, we will roll out a wider range of network coverage and services for the customers.”

The company is planning to expand its GSM base in India, and after Tamil Nadu and Orissa, will follow up with three circles of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. The series of circles launch is in step with the sequence of the spectrum allocation.

Loop Telecom had announced of late that it had given its network order to ZTE to supply continuous network equipment for the roll out. ZTE is a global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solution.
