Line calling service announced, stickers market to let users earn some quick bucks

Line is looking to compete with Skype with a new calling service it plans to introduce. What’s more, it’s just opened its stickers market to user-created ones so that ordinary folks like us can earn some quick bucks off them.

Skype competitor on its way

Line has announced tentative plans to launch a Skype-like service which will let people make voice calls to mobile phones as well as landlines. It will be a huge move for the messenger application seeing as it has 300 million users and counting. The tool is available for Windows Phone, Android, iPhone and BlackBerry.

User-created stickers marketplace

Are you good at drawing, painting, sketching and similar artsy stuff or simply clever at expressing things in picture-form? Even if you’re not a Line partner or professional designer, you can earn money in exchange for your creativity. The company has just thrown open the doors to everyone who’s interested in making stickers or emojis for the app.

The only requirement is a Line account. You can get this by downloading the free application onto your mobile device. You’ll also need to register as a creator once you’ve signed up. Oh, and don’t forget to make sure your stickers follow these guidelines so that they get approved by the company. Or else, you won’t be able to sell your creations through the marketplace.

The Line Creators Market is set to open shop in April. The pricing plan for the stickers is JPY 100 per set, out of which the creator gets 50% of the earnings.
