LG Pop sale surpasses one million units

LG Pop LG has declared that its LG Pop (LG GD510) has crossed the one million mark of sales across the globe in just 100 days followed by its European and CIS launch in October last year. The device has been globe trekking and turns out to be a fast-selling full touchscreen LG feature phone.

Sporting a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen housed in a super-slim 4.8mm bezel, the LG Pop claims to be an apt device for those looking for a compact phone with quality features. Enabling access to social networking sites on its home screen, the LG Pop lets users update the status on sites like Facebook, MySpace and Twitter anytime, anywhere.

“From the start we based the LG Pop on customer needs, leading us to create a compact and intuitive touchscreen phone that wasn’t weighed down by useless features. LG Pop offers most of the benefits of a smartphone without the steep learning curve. There’s still a huge market out there for phones that do everything right out of the box,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

The LG Pop features optional solar battery cover that offers over 2 minutes of talktime or 180 minutes of standby time if the phone is exposed to sun for ten minutes. The phone also bundles up the Eco-tree and Eco-calculator applications which allow users to calculate the exact amount of CO2 that has been cut with the solar battery cover.

The LG Pop also came up with a new user interface featuring quirky icons alongside a bright color scheme. Also made available are changeable rear covers in most regions in fluorescent shades of pink, green and orange, peanut-patterned black and silver, XO pattern and glossy white. From next month, the Pop will offer new colors such as Aqua Blue and Lime.
