Considering the popularity of 3D movies and games, there’s no reason why mobile manufacturers should be left behind. Well, almost. The LG Optimus 3D smartphone first unveiled at MWC will soon be a reality. Offering full 3D recording, viewing and sharing, it’s powered by an innovative ‘Tri-Dual’ configuration.

The smartphone boasts of a ‘Tri-Dual’ architecture which includes dual–core, dual-channel and dual memory. The configuration makes for a noticeably faster performance as the data is processed simultaneously between the dual-core and the dual-memory. The Optimus maximizes run-time efficiency, eventually coughing up a smoother and faster multitasking, browsing, gaming and multimedia experience.

“Tri-Dual architecture opens up a whole new world in smartphone performance,” mentioned Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company. “As the latest offering in our Optimus line-up, we expect there will be significant interest from those who seek the very latest in smartphone technology and are excited about 3D as the next big frontier in mobile devices.”

The phone claims to utilize the 3D technology to its fullest. It enables users to capture high quality 3D content and watch it without 3D glasses. The 3D video stabilization technology and real-time misalignment correction algorithm automatically corrects shaky recordings. The phone’s software can convert 2D photos and videos into 3D.

The phone has a 4.3” 3D LCD capacitive touchscreen display that exhibits bright and flicker-free HD images up to 1080p in 2D and 720p in 3D. It has an internal memory storage of 8GB and expandable memory storage of 32GB using a microSD memory card. Offering Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, the phone runs on Android 2.2.

The LG Optimus 3D is slated to be available first in Europe. It will enter more than 60 markets around the world over the next several weeks.
