Lava Iris 504q pre-order listings spotted online

The Lava Iris 504q which was revealed with a Rs 13,500 price in India and a late June release date, is now up for pre-order through various online retailers. Well, July’s almost upon us now and it makes sense for pre-bookings to have kicked off by now.

The various online vendors who have the Lava Iris 504q in their listings include Snapdeal, Infibeam, Shopping.IndiaTimes, Saholic, Tradus and Flipkart. For those who don’t remember, this is the very same phone for which Lava had been gathering pre-launch publicity with the #ifmyhandismagicwand hashtag on its Twitter account.

The company has even set up an impressive product page for the handset which offers a simulation of what it would feel like to communicate with the handset using gestures only. Audiences will need to turn on their webcam in order to experience this. One among the many things the onboard hands-free technology makes possible is the ability to switch the device on or off without requiring physical contact.

Users will be able to fiddle with music or video tracks, browse through images and even click photos by solely employing hand gestures. The technology works with a combination of in-built software and the 2MP front-facing camera which detects signs made by the person controlling it. In terms of specs, the Lava Iris 504q has a 5-inch IPS LCD touchscreen which serves up visuals in 1280 x 720p resolutions.

The rear panel is given to an 8MP lens crafted to record videos in full HD at 30fps. The Jelly Bean 4.2 running device is fitted with a 1.2GHz quad core processor that is assisted by 1GB of RAM. Falling short of our expectations, it is bundled in with just 4GB ROM and a microSD card slot which supports no more than 32GB of memory.

One small bonus is the dual SIM nature of the Lava Iris 504q. Under the hood, there’s a 2000mAh battery for delivering roughly 11 hours of talk time or 8 hours of browsing time. Connectivity options cover Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G and GPS. Lastly, the phone is available in a shade of grey only.

Rs 13,499 may seem like a reasonable amount to pay for a smartphone packing in all the hardware and features that the Iris 504q boasts of. At any rate, it’s a good effort by the manufacturer if we go by the current market standards for budget mobile devices.
