Even with no official word from Lava about the E-Tab Xtron+ in India, the tablet has reserved a spot with e-retailers and shows off a price of Rs 6,999. Successor to the 7-inch device that stepped forward in February, the slate in question bears a retail tag with an amount which surpasses that of the former by a mere Rs 500.
Not only is there barely any difference between the MRPs of the device and its elder sibling, but they also scarcely vary in terms of their specifications. The attribute that sets the most recent device apart is its Android 4.2.2 OS. While Jelly Bean reigned even in the older slab, it has been pre-loaded with the 4.1 version.
The manufacturer has been a little more liberal with the Rs 6,999 worth tablet in terms of the onboard battery, replacing the 3,500mAh power pack with a 3,700mAh cell. Another development seen by the gadget is in the field of embedded cameras. Its predecessor holds onto a single 2MP front-facing camera, whereas it has arrived with dual snappers. A 2MP shutter resides on the rear panel and a 0.3MP lens slithers onto the slab’s face.
Apart from these, the components of both the slates run more or less parallel to each other. A 7-inch capacitive touch display with a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution finds itself dominating the front surface, hiding underneath which is a dual core Cortex A9 processor flaunting a clock speed of 1.5GHz. Oddly, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n exists as a connectivity feature, but there is no trace of Bluetooth.
It is the 8GB variant of the Lava E-Tab Xtron+ which demands that customers pay the aforementioned price on Infibeam. The same unit can also be purchased through Flipkart for a lesser amount of Rs 6,990. Both e-retailers have offered the device with cash on delivery, replacement guarantee within 30 days and EMI benefits.
