Shape Services has previously dished out loads of fun and innovative apps specially fashioned for the iPhone and smartphones. Now the company hits the mobile terrain with yet another offering dubbed as the Smart Scanner App.
The Smart Scanner app possesses the ability to scan text and identify it. It can also recognize phone numbers, URLs and e-mail addresses for calling, opening desired URLs in Safari and e-mailing respectively. The latest app is noted to use the industry best mobile OCR engine from ABBYY, according to the company.
Igor Berezovsky, CEO of Shape Services said, “Smart Scanner is our next hardware replacing app that brings an enormous added value to users. In this series we already have iDisplay, Business Card Reader, Headset and Webcam for different smartphones. Each of the apps allows to use iPhone or BlackBerry as a magic replacement of a hardware.”
The time-consuming tool is created to be compatible with iPhone 3GS. Besides identifying arbitrary text blocks, the app also offers full-page recognition of large texts such as book pages and magazine. Shape Services has been earlier known for unveiling the acclaimed IM+ and Business Card Reader for iPhone.
