The iPhone 5 has hit stores across various nations including the US, Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and the UK. By the 28th of this month, it will launch in 22 other countries counting Austria, Denmark, Czech Republic, New Zealand, Spain and Switzerland amongst the lot. What’s more, the company has plans to release the smartphone in over 100 locations by the end of this year.

iPhone 5 Weekend Sales

“Demand for iPhone 5 has been incredible and we are working hard to get an iPhone 5 into the hands of every customer who wants one as quickly as possible,” commented Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “While we have sold out of our initial supply, stores continue to receive iPhone 5 shipments regularly and customers can continue to order online and receive an estimated delivery date. We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working hard to build enough iPhone 5s for everyone.”

The smartphone has already managed to break its predecessor’s record by achieving 2 million pre-orders within the first 24 hours. And owing to this, a number of pre-bookings will ship next month. And for those who have not yet placed an order, the device is available for purchase via Apple’s online store and retail outlets as well as through various carriers like AT&T and Verizon. Potential buyers can also pick up the smartphone from Best Buy, RadioShack, Target, Walmart and other authorized resellers.

iPhone 5 weekend sales hitting the 5 million mark in just 3 days from its release is proof of the overwhelming response the handset has received. Buyers can avail of this smartphone at a starting price of $199 on-contract in the US.
