iPhone 4 arrived in UAE and Qatar without FaceTime?

Dutweets iPhone4

The iPhone 4 is junketing round the globe after amassing huge popularity in some countries. Recently, we had reported on it touring China by September 25 and now it intends to ship to UAE and Qatar. Just a couple of days back, TUAW posted that the iPhone 4 will be launching this weekend in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

However, buyers were in for a surprise as reportedly the device does not feature FaceTime anymore. Known to come to UAE through Etisalat and du, along with Vodafone in Qatar this device is devoid of FaceTime. Initially, it was said that FaceTime was working in UAE, but as users upgraded to the local iOS 4.1 version it disappeared.

Apparently, we hear that carriers have passed the buck onto Apple for this missing functionality. @dutweets, Du’s Twitter account states ‘Sorry but we don’t offer this service at the moment’ in reply to the numerous queries being posted. There is word that carriers may approach Apple to reinstate FaceTime soon.
