A youth-centric phone going by the name Intex Yuva, has been launched in India. And the fact that the handset carries a rather low price tag may just fetch it some much needed points on the attractiveness scale.
The offering’s main highlight is its slim metal body and a 2100mAh battery housed in the interior. This is expected to provide users talk time of nearly 8 hours and standby time of almost 500 hours. As for the display, it’s a 2.6-inch QVGA type screen transfixed over a lightweight chassis. Then there’s the camera fitted on the device, a very basic 1.3MP sensor. One interesting feature is that the Intex Yuva may be remotely controlled and functions like deleting messages, contacts or more can be executed in such a manner.
Sanjay Kumar, GM, Mobile Business, Intex Technologies (India), cited, “The consumption pattern of mobile phones has drastically changed in the last five years in India. Not only are young professionals using mobile phones for work, even students are heavy users, mostly for keeping in touch with friends and loved ones.”
“Though these people spend hours with their phones they seldom find time to continuously charge it. Anticipating the need, Intex now offers a light weight phone with a long life battery – the Intex Yuva. Even in places where consumers face long hours of power cuts, they can remain connected through this phone. This is another effort from Intex towards understanding consumers’ needs and offer customized solutions for them,” added Kumar.
Other attributes include support for a microSD card for expanding the memory up to 16GB and entertainment facilities in the form of audio and video playback, sound recording and FM radio. Additionally, this dual-SIM phone is compatible with Bluetooth and USB to deliver data transfer options. The rest of the inclusions cover an LED torch, built-in games, smart dial and many texting features.
Dressed in shades of white, silver and black, the device supports both Hindi and English dialects. The Intex Yuva price in India is revealed to be Rs. 2,890 and it is available across retail outlets including 70 Intex Squares.
