Instagram now lets you to embed photos and videos

There’s a new addition to Instagram which will enable anyone to embed the photographs and videos shared on the service into their own content. Those whose minds have gone back to the social network’s infamous copyright controversy, may note that all users will have control over this new addition, for it will only be available on the content that has been made public. The pictures and videos which are private will not be applicable for this new feature.

Embedding will only be accessible through the web version of the service however. Each file will now bear one more option besides it, apart from the Like and Comment buttons. This will be Share button which, when clicked on, will bring up a small box containing the embed code. An option of copying the entire code in a single click will also be presented along with it.

Once copied, it can be easily pasted onto blogs, websites or articles, by their respective owners. The developers over at Instagram have revealed through a blog post that even when a photo or a video from the service has been embedded onto some other site or blog, it will clearly bear the username of the original poster. However, there is no mention on this blog post about whether or not, and how users will come to know that their content has been embedded by someone. It isn’t hard to guess that the news section of the iOS and Android apps will have some provision for this.

The embedding function on Instagram is now live, and the picture above has been posted using the same technique.
