Watching TV when on the move is definitely emerging to be one of the most desired features for mobile phone users. Innocomm and Telegant Mobile collaborate to release a new Android-based phone namely the Innocomm Shark that does just that. This phone is claimed to be the first Android 3.5G touchscreen smartphone to be infused with Telegant mobile TV technology.
Users can now watch TV on the phone’s 3.2 inch WVGA (800×480) capacitive touchscreen display. Telegant’s free-to-air broadcast TV in mobile allows them to watch their favorite programs, sports and news straight on the handsets. Yes, virtually all programs that can be viewed in analog TV sets can now be enjoyed on their phones.
Paul Wang, President at Innocomm, remarked, “We expect the phone’s price and feature profile to appeal to operators seeking to add 3.5G Android smartphones to their portfolio and to leverage 3G as a strategic growth platform,” and further added, “The combination of analog TV with Android’s feature-rich platform allows us to deliver both operator and consumer extraordinary value in markets in Asia, Latin America and parts of Europe.”
Samuel Sheng, president and chief executive officer, said, “Innocomm is well known for its quality and innovative designs,” and added, “Innocomm’s new model will provide carriers who are leveraging analog TV as a strategic differentiator to deliver a compelling offering in the high end smartphone category.”
The model also incorporates the ability to record TV clips to a microSD card. Additional functions include an 8 megapixel autofocus camera and support for Wi-Fi connectivity.
More than 80 million mobile TV receivers have been shipped by Telegant since it first introduced its mobile TV solutions in mid-2007. The company was slated to demonstrate its latest solutions for mobile devices at this week’s event, June 1 – 5, at the Grand Hyatt Taipei.
