iPhone users can now enjoy instant access to several free eBooks through online catalogs available on the internet, thereby enabling them to develop a customized library of books for effortless reading while on the go. Inkstone Software released the immersive MegaReader app for iPhone owners. Users can seamlessly tap several categories like Feedbooks, Project Gutenberg, Baen Free Books, Smashwords, and the Internet Archive.

The app enables users to discover classics like Sherlock Holmes, Pride and Prejudice, and War and Peace. Apart from this, owners can also engage themselves with new modern indie authors and publishers. Once books are downloaded with the help of Wi-Fi, users can read them anytime, anywhere as per their convenience without worrying about an internet connection.

“The MegaReader app is a fantastic way to explore the nearly two million public domain titles freely available from the Internet Archive’s BookServer catalog. We are thrilled to contribute to Inkstone’s efforts to bring the enjoyment of these books to readers around the world” remarked Peter Brantley, Director of the BookServer Project, Internet Archive.

Apart from providing exceptional personalization, the app offers users the flexibility to select one of 19 pre-defined color schemes. In addition, users can come up with one of their own using 1000 distinct colors. The app includes 23 fonts, 100 font sizes and a wide array of margin widths, line spacing, and text justification to select from.

“Many reading apps currently available on the iPhone have rather utilitarian and confusing interfaces or they are very limited in the amount of customization you can do. We wanted to provide an elegant, easy to use interface that could be easily personalized to the reader’s needs and tastes,” Peter Brantley added.

Portrait or landscape modes can be locked with utmost ease depending on preference. The app also flaunts integrated speed reading test that can be used to evaluate and display how long it will take approx. to complete a chapter. Users can navigate without any interruption and search for books on authors from within MegaReader. This can be done mainly by browsing categories, viewing popular or recently added books, or looking at recommended reading lists and reviews.

The app comes equipped with preloaded 22 books, including works from Jane Austen, Dale Carnegie, Agatha Christie, Paulo Coelho, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Jack London, and Kurt Vonnegut. Additionally, users can download DRM-free books with the help of handy Wi-Fi connection. In order to track all physical and digital media assets and customize book cover images, the app works flawlessly with iBookshelf and MyLibrary.

The engaging app can now be snapped from iTunes store for $1.99.
