Egged on positively, Idea now seems to outstretch in terms of its services and stand. Well, the company has recently proliferated its entity in the North East by releasing the new 2.75G EDGE-enabled GSM network in Meghalaya. The launch in Meghalaya comes close on the heels of Idea’s recent release in Assam.
With an objective to serve the hoi-polloi to a larger extent, around two lakh citizens in the major towns of Shillong, Nongpoh, Jowai in the districts of East Khasi Hills, Jayantia Hills and Ri Boi in Meghalaya will now be part of Idea’s pan-India network. Users biding in such places can now have access to its world class mobile telephony services.
Stating about the wide-coverage, the company has already established a network of 69 cell sites in the north eastern states, which is anticipated to dilate to 428 cell sites by March 2010 for offering mobile services to over 25 lakh people in the six states of North East.
“The launch of Idea’s world class mobile telephony services in Meghalaya will connect the urban and large rural population of Meghalaya with the rest of the country, and drive mobile penetration in the region. We understand the mobile communication needs of the people, and the unique geography of the region, based on which we have designed a network that covers large population areas, and a product portfolio suiting the needs and affordability of the local populace,” expressed Vijay Grover, Chief Operating Officer – East, Idea Cellular Ltd.
Moreover, Idea has set up a deep-rooted network of customer service centers and retail outlets in Meghalaya, subsuming six exclusive My Idea Stores, Idea Points alongside 780 other retail outlets. Rather, with the great assistance of these recently launched services, mobile users in this state can now derive a rich experience. Additionally, users can benefit from an extensive range of value added services such as Music download, Dialer Tones, Voice chat, Web-infotainment, high-speed Internet Data Card, and other Internet-based multi-media experiences on their EDGE-enabled handsets.
Further, the company has introduced two interesting, distinctive and light on pocket tariff plans for users in Meghalaya. The plan ‘Ek Se Badhkar Ek’ offers users a choice to choose between per second and per minute tariff plans. Influentially, users in Meghalaya can now avail Idea’s per second tariff plan offering all Local and STD calls at only 1 paisa per second or the per minute plan offering Local calls at just 40 paisa per minute and STD at 60 paisa per minute.
