Hyperconnective people choose mobile phone over wallet

Mobiles take over wallet

In order to find the people they can label as ‘hyperconnected’, a survey was conducted by Nortel Networks Corp which interestingly revealed a pretty unbelievable fact. A good 38% of the participants in the survey who would not like to part away from their mobile phone prefer sacrificing their wallets for a day!

This makes mobile phones as the most important item on the list. 2,367 people had participated in the survey where Nortel, the biggest maker of telephone gear in North America, was trying to identify people who cannot do without atleast 7 gadgets for work and networking and make use of atleast 9 applications like instant messaging, text messaging or web conferencing or even using sites like Facebook.

The survey was conducted in 17 countries where people were asked to choose just one item abandoning the rest for 24 hours. According to the survey, China was at number 1 position with the highest number of ‘hyperconnected’ people with Canada and United Arab Emirates having the least number of hyperconnecteds.

Nortel also anticipates a 40% rise in the number of hyper-connected people around the world in the next five years. It seems that with an increase in the demand for the internet and networking, the demand for gadgets providing internet connectivity is bound to rise.

With mobile phones giving uninterrupted access to internet, music, some even doubling up as mobile TVs and not to forget its basic service of making phone calls in emergency, the modest mobile phone is bound to be an all-time hit. But one can definitely not buy anything with a mobile-phone as it can never double up as currency or an ATM or a debit card! To watch what more can a mobile phone bring with it, we will have to wait for future developments. Till then, welcome to the world of hyperconnectivity.
