HTC Radar smartphone with Windows Phone Mango update unveiled in India

Within weeks of releasing the HTC Radar in the U.S. through T-Mobile, the company has decided to unleash this smartphone in India. The handset operates on the Windows Phone 7 Mango update.

Flaunting itself as the first Windows Phone powered smartphone by HTC, the Radar raises the bar for mobile photography as compared to devices by the company with its f/2.2 aperture lens and back-illuminated sensor as well as the 28mm wide-angle lens specification.

“Phones were originally designed for communication, but they haven’t kept up with the way consumers are actually communicating today. That’s why we built Windows Phone to put people first, building in all the key types of communication people are already using right out of the box,” cited Andy Lees, President of Windows Phone Division. “The HTC Radar brings a sleek, modern design that perfectly complements this people-first experience, making sure it’s easy to connect & share with the people you care about most so the message always gets through.”

Crafted as an aluminum uni-body device, the Radar records lively 720p HD videos, and also has a panoramic feature which lets users capture vivid landscape shots. The Photo Enhancer feature allows a little touch-up for photos, which can then directly be uploaded to Facebook. Other features include HTC Watch application for streaming movies, virtual 5.1 surround sound, HTML5 support and Xbox Live.

The HTC Radar is now available in India for a price of Rs. 25,490. It is also available through Best Buy for a price of Rs. 23,990.
