HTC Locations pre-loads TomTom’s location maps

Around a month back we reported on the launch of the HTC Desire HD and Desire Z. These two beauties were loaded with freshly improved HTC Sense UI. Today, the handset manufacturer teams up with TomTom to endow its users with excellent navigation and location solutions on all its smartphones.

With major companies going global, professionals these days are constantly on the go checking out new markets. Thus, they require such solutions to ensure that they do not lose their way in unfamiliar cities. HTC Locations, the company’s latest mapping software comes preinstalled with TomTom’s location-rich maps.

The beauty of it is that the maps are preloaded and instantly available at users’ fingertips. For the first time, this makes the power of TomTom navigation content available ‘in-pocket’ for HTC smartphone users”, stated Maarten van Gool, Managing Director of TomTom Licensing.

This new software will be initially offered on the latest HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z smartphones. The service will be rendered for denizens of Asia and Europe. It foresees further additions of geographies and smartphones.

Users must keep in mind that only maps and location content will be preloaded on HTC Locations, whereas if they need to access turn-by-turn navigation. Handset owners will have to be purchase and download them from the HTC Sync or HTC Locations.
