HTC Desire HD ICS update canceled

Putting a full stop to all those queries about the HTC Desire HD ICS update, the manufacturer has officially announced that the device will not be melded with Android 4.0. This is primarily because the company believes that the current onboard software version should deliver the ‘best experience’ to owners of the smartphone in question.

The buzz began last week when Telus cited HTC to have pulled off the ICS update for the Desire HD. A few days later, another report from the same quarters stated that the HTC team was indeed working on the upgrade. Now that the official word has arrived, there should be no room for any doubts on this front.

“After extensive testing, we’ve determined that the current version of HTC Sense with Android provides customers with the best experience on the HTC Desire HD. When we consider new versions of software, we weigh a number of factors, but ultimately the customer experience on the product is the deciding factor. We apologize for any confusion this change may have caused our customers,” states a post on the official HTC blog.

Though the news could be disappointing for owners of the smartphone, the company claims that the present user experience should work the best for them. Though a post on Android Central mentioned this move to be rather worrisome for Desire S and Thunderbolt devices which carry similar components to the Desire HD, both the handsets in question are expected to receive their ICS treats anyway.

So for now, the HTC Desire HD ICS update has been canceled.
